Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City and other Premier League clubs' stance on furloughs

The Premier League remains suspended as the coronavirus continues to bring everyday life to a halt around the world. There have been calls for players to take pay cuts to help the non-playing staff at the 20 top flight clubs.

But as of yet, only those not playing on the pitch have been hit financially, being placed on furlough until further notice.

The UK government's furlough scheme covers 80 per cent of wages up to £2500 per month. And some Premier League teams have already taken the decision to place staff on furlough as they try and minimise the financial damage of the global pandemic.

Newcastle United were the first club to reveal they would be taking that action on non-playing staff, with managing director Lee Charnley informing
