Jamie Carragher has lifted the lid on Liverpool's training ground plan to stop Cristiano Ronaldo scoring free-kicks when they faced Manchester United.
The Portugal international was known for his set-piece prowess during his six year stay at Old Trafford and netted 13 free-kicks for the Red Devils.
Reflecting on facing Ronaldo, Carragher revealed that Liverpool did not have a specific plan to deal with the forward during games and instead focused on preventing him scoring free-kicks. "I can’t really remember coming up against him too often, I think when Ronaldo came I’d moved to centre-back and he was playing out wide," Carragher told Sky Sports. "I’ll be honest, I don’t think he was ever at his best in those Liverpool games.
