Jamie Carragher has revealed that Liverpool came up with a special plan to try and minimise Cristiano Ronaldo's effectiveness during his time at Manchester United.
The Portugal international became a threat with his unique free-kick technique throughout his latter years at Old Trafford. But Carragher says that Liverpool came up with a specific ploy to try and reduce the effect of his long-range efforts. "I can't really remember coming up against him too often, I think when Ronaldo came I'd moved to centre-back and he was playing out wide," Carragher told Sky Sports. "I'll be honest, I don't think he was ever at his best in those Liverpool games.
