Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been dealt a snub in his homeland after losing his grip on Senegal’s player of the year award to Edouard Mendy.The award was voted for by national sports journalists from the National Sports Press Association (ANPS) and Mane was chosen as the winner for 2020.But clearly Mendy’s heroics in goal for Chelsea were enough for him to land the award for the first time in his career, becoming the first goalkeeper since Toni Silva in 2005 to pick up the Jules Francois Bocande trophy.Mane was second but finished a long way behind the landslide winner Mendy, with the Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy collecting 321 votes to Mane’s 99.Watford winger Ismaila Sarr came in third on 61 votes after his standout displays since.
