Liverpool injury blow as Joel Matip will not play again this season

Matip, 28, was replaced with 25 minutes to go by Dejan Lovren and missed the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.But scans have confirmed the former Cameroon international won't feature again this season.Matip said: “This season I will not be back on the pitch but for next season, I hope I’m going to be quite early a direct help for the team.”Next up for Liverpool is a trip to the Etihad on Thursday evening to take on Manchester City where the Reds will be given a guard of honour.Sadio Mane says it would be the icing on the cake if his side can show everyone why they’re champions with a win over Pep Guardiola’s.
