Croatia defender Lovren has fallen out of favour at Anfield in recent months, making just 14 appearances in all competitions this term.
Joe Gomez has emerged as the first choice partner to Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool’s notoriously impervious back line which has won them a Champions League and put them in touching distance of the Premier League title.
He is backed up mainly by Joel Matip, though the Cameroonian has struggled with injuries this term, while Jordan Henderson has even covered at centre-half.
