Virgil van Dijk got only one hour's sleep after Liverpool won Champions League final

Virgil van Dijk “could not keep his eyes open” as he only got “one hour’s sleep” during Liverpool’s Champions League partying from Madrid to the city parade.

The Dutchman helped his side to a first European title in 14 years last season, beating Tottenham 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.

It was a tight schedule to fit all the celebrations in, flying back to Liverpool the nest day before hosing a parade through the city.

And the 28-year-old has given his take on the celebrations after the Champions League win. Speaking to Sky Sports, van Dijk said: ”I slept only one hour. "Then we went straight back to Liverpool after that, and then we went on the parade.
