Virgil van Dijk says his inspirational journey has not finished yet… with Liverpool hungry for more trophies when football eventually resumes.

Winning the Champions League was a “surreal” experience for the Reds defender that crowned his growth from a boy who looked unlikely to make it into the man now regarded as the best defender in the world.

Yet he insisted after tasting such triumph in Madrid last summer it is simply the start, and even if the Premier League is cancelled, it won’t change the driving ambition to put more silverware in the Anfield trophy cabinet.

Speaking on Sky’s The Football Show, the Dutch defender admitted that going from a kid who wasn’t good enough to winning Europe’s biggest prize was an unbelievable experience.
