Liverpool academy star-turned-prisoner saw lag's face melted in horrific jail attack

Liverpool FC youth star has remembered the time he spent in prison after he was caught with drugs and fake money at Glastonbury.Paddy Lacey made a promising start to a football career when he was signed with Liverpool’s youth academy from Tranmere Rovers as a youngster.But, after his dad fell out with the coaching staff, Paddy ventured around England’s lower leagues, ending up at Accrington Stanley before failing a drugs test when he was only 22.He was subsequently banned from football for 14 months by the FA.

During his suspension, he was stopped at Glastonbury while carrying drugs and counterfeit money.The incident saw Paddy get arrested and he was sentenced to 16 months in prison, of which he served five months before being released on an electronic tag.Now, speaking to James English on his Anything Goes podcast, Paddy has reflected on his career, and opened up about his time in prison.And, despite the fact that he was only playing in the lower leagues when he went to jail, Paddy remembered that he had to keep his footballing status hidden.“Straight away they were saying to me as you get booked in, ‘don’t tell no one that you’re a footy player because everyone’s going to be on you for dough’,” he explained.“And I was like, ‘mate, I was just earning £750 a week, I’ve got no dough’.And, although Paddy was able to avoid trouble himself, he remembered one horrific encounter targeted at a fellow inmate on his very first day inside.He said: “I remember the first day, I was on the top landing, and I’m looking down the net with my mate… and as everyone’s leaning over looking, hot sugar water has just melted this kid’s face.”The incident was made even worse, when the attackers realised they’d targeted the wrong victim to.
