A rescue lion cub has found his soul mate after being abused and abandoned by a tourist photographer in Russia. Named after the main character of Disney's Lion King, Simba is showing signs of recovery after being so badly beaten in the past that he struggled to walk.

Adorable footage shared by the "Spasi Menya" [Save Me] animal shelter in the city of Chelyabinsk in the south-western Russian region of Chelyabinsk Oblast captures Simba's recovery progress.

Veterinarian Karen Dalakyan said that lions are social animals and the cub is in need of company. Karen is seen trying to bring the injured Simba into a shelter but it is barely able to move due to the sensitive spinal bone.
