Leeds extended Patrick Bamford’s contract in secret to ward off the attention of Premier League rivals Liverpool.Bamford, 27, has been a Leeds player since moving to Elland Road from Middlesbrough for £7million in 2018.
He has been an important figure for the Whites, scoring 41 goals in 107 appearances in three seasons with the club. His form in the top-flight has taken many by surprise, with the former Chelsea man chipping in 15 goals and eight assists.
Bamford’s all-round play is highly valued by Marcelo Bielsa, so it is perhaps no surprise Leeds sought to tie him to a longer deal.
