Grant, 38, signed a new deal with United last week despite the arrival of fellow shot-stopper Tom Heaton on a free transfer.
Heaton, 35, is regarded as the new third-choice goalkeeper behind David de Gea and Dean Henderson, with Grant now fourth in the pecking order.
The Manchester Evening News previously reported United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be edging towards Dean Henderson as his number one at the start of next season.
