Kelpies ice rescue as firefighters race to save dog after it plunges into frozen water

Two fire appliances raced to the scene where brave crew members donned life jackets before being joined by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Thankfully, the dog was rescued from the water a short time before and the crews were able to stand down.Dramatic pictures from the scene showed the firefighters preparing to enter the icy cold water before being told they were no longer required.It is understood that the dog was being taken to the vet for a check up after its ordeal but is not thought to be hurt.A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 1.35pm on Friday.
