Rio Ferdinand was Sir Alex Ferguson's best signing as Manchester United boss according to John O'Shea. The Scot led the Red Devils for over 25 years and bought in a host of players in that time.
Ferguson signed the likes of Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane during his tenure. But Ferdinand has been singled out as the best bit of recruitment he did by O'Shea, who played alongside the defender.
Ferguson spent £30, a then British record, to sign the centre-half from arch rivals Leeds in 2002. Ferdinand had to wait five years before he lifted his first Premier League title though, but remained a class act at the back.
