Sam Mendes

Sir Samuel Alexander Mendes CBE (born 1 August 1965) is an English film and stage director, producer and screenwriter. In theatre, he is known for his dark re-inventions of the stage musicals Cabaret (1994), Oliver! (1994), Company (1995), and Gypsy (2003). He directed an original West End stage musical for the first time with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2013).

For directing the play The Ferryman, Mendes was awarded the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play in 2019.

Kate Winslet sells titanic, $5.7 million NYC penthouse loft

is in contract to sell her West Chelsea penthouse. The sprawling duplex, at 532 W. 22nd St., hit the market for $5.69 million last November.

She had previously listed it as a $30,000-a-month rental. At 3,018 square feet, the loft features four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms — and a stellar 1,700-square-foot roof deck.

Interior details include a great room with a gas fireplace, an open chef’s kitchen, whitewashed wide-plank oak floors, 13-foot-tall ceilings and lots of built-ins for storage and display.

Winslet bought it with her ex-husband, Oscar-winning filmmaker, producer and director Sam Mendes, for $4.99 million in 2004, and then bought out his share in 2012.
