Kate Middleton wears rarely-seen Queen's brooch in special tribute to monarch

Kate Middleton has been spotted wearing a brooch once sported by the Queen during the procession ahead of her Majesty's Funeral.

Kate paired the brooch with diamond and pearl drop earrings from the collection of her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.Kate first wore the brooch during a trip to Ypres, Belgium, on a visit with William in 2017, almost two decades after the Queen wore it on a visit to Seoul, South Korea. Jewels like pearls and diamonds are considered appropriate for such sombre times of remembrance and funerals - they are both 'white' jewels and commonly associated with mourning.Today's appearance of the brooch comes on a sad day for Kate and William, as they participate in proceedings following the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

The late monarch's coffin was returned to London yesterday evening after it had been resting in St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.
