Having wished her own father a happy 60th birthday just moments earlier, Kate wrote: "& Happy Birthday to one of our special angels" alongside a heart emoji.
In the throwback picture, Janice is resting her head on her son's shoulder, with young Rio staring moodily into the camera. Rio was left devastated by his mum's death in 2017, which was the second tragedy to hit his family in two years after he lost his first wife Rebecca to breast cancer in 2015.
