JANE SAYS: You can’t keep beating yourself up. You owe it to yourself to get out there and live. It’s never too late to break out of a rut and you’ve got a lot of making up to do. I get the impression that you have worked hard and deliberately avoided rocking the boat, but this is your time now.
You have money at your disposal and you’re allowed to start putting yourself first for once. Make a wish list and write down everything you need to achieve. If you fancy travelling and don’t have anyone to join you, check out companies that specialise in group tours. The sky’s the limit.
With any luck, you’ll meet some new and exciting people on your adventures – people who complement and excite you. From now on, vow to keep a completely open mind and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone by taking chances. As for looking back and regretting certain decisions and relationships, forget it. There’s nothing to be gained from obsessing about the past.
It goes without saying that we should all be prepared to learn from our mistakes, but harbouring regrets is a fool’s game. You did what you did at certain points in your life because of your confidence levels and circumstances. But you’re entitled to be anyone you like now – so go for it.
