Sky Sports, even slipping in a cheeky joke at Paul Merson's expense.Football fans rejoiced on Monday when it emerged that the popular presenter would be staying on another season.
Last October, Stelling announced that he would step down from his role.The Hartlepool supporter has spent the last 30 years with Sky but several departures from the Soccer Saturday panel appeared to signal a clean sweep of changes.
But Stelling has reversed his decision to quit the channel just yet, revealing that he would stay one more year.And on Twitter, Jeff even had a cheeky pop at Merson, who he usually spends every Saturday afternoon with in the Sky Sports studio.
He wrote: "Thanks to everyone for their kind words about my decision to carry on presenting @GilletteSoccerS. Felt job wasn’t complete until Merse finally masters pronouncing Alain St Maximin properly!!"There was heavy speculation over who would come in to take Stelling's job in what would have no doubt been some of the biggest shoes to fill in the world of sports presenting.
