Jane Fonda has addressed white privilege amid anti-racism protests that are currently playing out across the US. The actress, 82, who is an avid activist, is calling for people to ‘recognise’ their privilege and stressed that even ‘the poorest of white people have privilege’.
Appearing on CNN Tonight, Jane discussed the demonstrations that have taken place in LA, following the death of George Floyd – a 46-year-old black man who died after he was arrested and a white police officer knelt on his neck for over eight minutes.
Highlighting the injustice of systemic racism and calling for change, Jane said: ‘Because we’re white, we have had privilege.
