Jamie Carragher has highlighted the quality of January signings Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak as being the key difference between Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Reds have lost central defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez to long-term injuries over the course of this season, with their Premier League title defence suffering as a result.
That led to the Anfield side adding Preston’s Davies and Schalke’s Kabak to their squad on transfer deadline line. Despite bringing in those defensive reinforcements, manager Jurgen Klopp opted to select midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho as his central defensive pairing for the visit of City.
