Is grey now passé? The go-to neutral may finally be falling out of fashion

Farrow & Ball’s Lamp Room Gray and Down Pipe were style shorthand for a sophisticated, contemporary look. The sustained popularity of grey since the turn of the century can be explained by the fact that it goes with just about any other colour, and after years of magnolia holding sway as the neutral wall shade of choice during the 1980s and ’90s, a cool-toned grey felt like the edgy, modern neutral option.
