Another beast, measuring seven feet long, later washed up dead from the Atlantic ocean and onto the Long Island shore.Rockaway Beach was actually shut down on Tuesday afternoon (July 19) following sightings.
The lockdown was not without good reason either. According to PIX11, since July 3 there have been four shark attacks at three different beaches on Long Island.An attack on July 17 left a 41-year-old paddleboarder with a gruesome four-inch gash in the water off Smith Point County Park.No lifeguards were on duty at the time but thankfully he made it to shore and was rushed to hospital.
