Iceland worker who sued the food chain has been awarded £3,000 after she was fired for eating a 20p Twirl and giving one to a customer’s child.Sharon Cassidy had been given her marching orders after she was spotted on CCTV eating the Cadbury’s bar from a £1 pack of five without paying for it.But she said she thought the opened pack of Twirls belonged to another member of staff – and argued that colleagues often ate each other’s food, reports the Mirror.The Twirl incident happened in February 2019.
An employment tribunal in Glasgow heard that Miss Cassidy had been asked to tidy up items that had been left at the store in Paisley.When a duty manager took over, the hearing was told they found an open five-pack of Twirls, with only one remaining.
