It is an awful shock when it first occurs. Scientists at Harvard University have been experimenting with mice and believe they have discovered the hormone, induced by stress, that causes baldness.
That hormone, corticosterone, prevents hair follicles from regenerating and suppresses the production of a protein called GAS6.
