Hundreds of shoppers queued outside shops in the middle of the night to grab some bargains in the Boxing Day sales. Crowds of customers lined up outside Next Home at Silverlink Retail Park, near Newcastle, eager to be first in line this morning.
Queue barriers were set up outside the shop and social distancing measures were followed by customers. It comes as shoppers plan to spend £162 on average online in the post-Christmas sales, a survey found.
Many Boxing Day sales this year will need to be done online as stricter lockdown rules in some areas have forced high street stores to shut.
Clothes and shoes are at the top of people's sales wish-lists, followed by food and drink, homeware and stationery, the research from Barclaycard found.
