Brits will finally be able to meet loved ones indoors, drink inside a pub and watch sport in stadiums in just over two weeks' time - as long as Covid cases continue to fall.

After a long and bleak winter and spring, the next relaxing of rules is scheduled for May 17 - with holidays abroad expected to return as well.

Gatherings of up to 30 people outdoors will be permitted outdoors for the first time in months as Stage 3 of Boris Johnson's 'roadmap' out of lockdown comes into effect.

It is also hoped that hugging people you don't live with will again be permitted. Pubs and restaurants, which have endured a torrid 12 months, will be allowed to reopen their doors to let customers in - but social distancing measures will stay.
