In the early 2000s, author Dan Buettner conducted research into what aspects of our lifestyle and environment can help us live longer.
He identified five areas with the highest percentage of centenarians (a person who is 100 years old or older). He named these “Blue Zones” and found that the populations also had lower levels of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
