Rishi Sunak has offered to buy dinner for half the country in a bid to save the hospitality industry from  collapse in the wake of Coronavirus.

The Chancellor announced an ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ offer, which entitles everyone in the country to a half-price meal out on the Treasury in August.

It’s part of his plan to rescue the struggling restaurant business, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 lockdown. Announcing the plan, Mr Sunak said: "To get customers back into restaurants, cafes and pubs, and protect the 1.8 million people who work in them, I can announce today that, for the month of August, we will give everyone in the country an Eat Out to Help Out discount."
