The 30-year-old actor is best known for playing Josh Ashworth, who had his fair share of drama over his five years in the village.
In 2010, all of the Ashworth family, sans Rhys, were axed from Hollyoaks by new executive producer, Paul Marquess - who claimed that he was getting rid of the "deadwood".
Sonny made special appearances in the soap two years later, but ultimately focused on a new career in law - enrolling in university and working at a commercial solicitor's firm in Manchester before he completed his BPTC.
