He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

Holly Willoughby freaked out live on air after she spotted an “enormous” spider run across the studio on This Morning. The 41 year old and her co-star Phillip Schofield interrupted the show for a few moments as the crew tried to catch the creature on air.

Holly said for anyone who has a “spider fear” it was a nightmare as it was “really big” before the camera panned over to the insect. “It doesn’t look so big on the telly,” Holly said, as the crew laughed before she added, “it’s really big, could someone please put a glass over it and let it free outside.” The spider froze in its spot and Phil observed “It’s being really casual,” as Holly agreed, “It did leg it a minute ago.” One of the “brave” crew members tried to scoop up the spider with his script, before it scrambled away and ran out of shot. “What are you doing, what are you doing!

That was always going to happen!” Phil shouted, as he instructed: “Get a glass!” Looking more and more disturbed by the spider, Holly cried: “Can you just make it go that way please?” Before the duo declared the crew had “got it” and the spider was trapped under a glass.
