Investigators working for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have also found one company which saw higher sales in August than before the coronavirus pandemic began, even though it claiming it had sent all its workers home.
Businesses have been able to claim up to £2,500 per month for each member of staff who has been unable to work during the pandemic.
The money was meant to be passed on to the employee, to cover up to 80 per cent of their wages, however, experts have been worried about abuse of the scheme.
