Kate Moss than the rest of '90s supermodels combined, and yet despite those 15 years or so at the start of the millennium, when she was rarely off the front pages, she has somehow retained her mystique.
In no small part this is down to her reluctance to talk to the media. Never complain, never explain, she famously said, borrowing Benjamin Disraeli’s philosophical response to fame (it’s a sentiment also shared by The Queen).
I like to think in my own small way I may have helped her develop this Zen-like stance. Shortly after she came out of The Priory when she was in her mid-20s she gave two long interviews – one to me for British Vogue, and one to, I think, The Face.
