Two days ago, more than 20million Instagram users worldwide, including hundreds of celebrities, took a break from uploading their regular selfies and sponsored posts to instead share a black square for Blackout Tuesday. While not everyone agreed with the move, for me it felt like a beautiful and unprecedented show of unity for the black community, who finally have visible allies in the fight against racism.
It’s perhaps the most united Instagram has ever been over one cause. Unfortunately, it took the most horrific event to get to this point.
