East Ayrshire roads over the course of this financial year. Another £150,000 is to be spent on footpaths, £2m on bridges and £563,000 on safer routes for cyclists and walkers.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance has released a list of all the streets lined up for improvements before April 2021. Roads staff stopped repairs during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown but began operating again in June after restrictions were eased by the Scottish Government.Council leader Douglas Reid admitted the local authority was in a race against time to get much of the work completed before the big freeze arrives.He said: “We are a fair bit behind with it.“Our roadworks staff were making food deliveries during lockdown and some were also helping with refuse.
