The heartbreaking reason why Gonzalo Higuain broke Italy’s coronavirus curfew to fly back to Argentina has emerged after the Juventus striker controversially fled the country.
Italy has been heavily affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, with around 60,000 cases now reported in the country, and the whole nation placed into quarantine for two weeks.
Juventus forward Higuain did not follow those instructions though, as he left Turin to be by the side of his dying mother in Argentina.
The Argentine’s lawyer, Rinaldo Romanelli, was said to have been left “perplexed” by Higuain's decision. But his brother, Nicola, has taken to Facebook to fire back at Romanelli and put any rumours to rest about who had given Higuain permission to leave the country.
