Tragedy unfolded on Sunday when Martin Parker was one of two North West Electricity men working in Featherstall Road. In the accident, which also left thousands of people in Rochdale without power, both men were injured, but father-of-two Martin was later pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood Martin lives in the Denton area and is well known to regulars in The Chapel House pub in Stockport Road. The pub has already organised a Halloween fundraiser for the family on October 30 from 8.30pm until late and on October 31, from 1pm to 5pm.
