Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein CBE (born March 19, 1952) is an American former film producer. He and his brother Bob Weinstein co-founded the entertainment company Miramax, which produced several successful independent films, including Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), The Crying Game (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Heavenly Creatures (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), and Shakespeare in Love (1998).

Weinstein won an Academy Award for producing Shakespeare in Love, and garnered seven Tony Awards for a variety of plays and musicals, including The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County. After leaving Miramax, Weinstein and his brother Bob founded The Weinstein Company, a mini-major film studio. He was co-chairman, alongside Bob, from 2005 to 2017.

Harvey Weinstein appeals sexual assault conviction, claims he was 'deprived of fair trial'

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a 23 years long jail term, on Monday lodged a fresh appeal against his sexual assault convictions.

As per international reports, Harvey and his legal team alleged that they were 'deprived of fair trial' and the fresh appeal comes in order to help quash his years long jail sentence after he was convicted in February 2020.According to a latest BBC report, one of Weinstein's lawyers, Arthur Aidala told the news outlet, "With a year behind us and emotions subsided, the transcript of the case confirms what we always believed: that Mr Weinstein did not receive a fair trial." As per reports, Weinstein's new appeal is at least 165 pages long and has been filed with the Appellate Division.
