Elon Musk's ambitious plan to get all spam bots banned from Twitter could see him lose more than half of his followers—after it was revealed that more than 50% of his followers are fake or spam bots.
An analysis carried out by Twitter auditors SparkToro estimates that around 53.3% of Musk's followers are 'fake followers', i.e.
they are bots, spam accounts, or inactive.Musk called spam bots the "single most annoying problem" on Twitter, and made a commitment to clearing the platform of them entirely after his purchase of the company is finalised.Spam bots are automated accounts which pretend to be real people, but are actually used to spread scams or false information.Many of these accounts are used to hoodwink people with cryptocurrency scams.
