Bolton Coroner's Court. Police coroner's officer Benjamin Dobbs told the court that the 65-year-old retired building contractor was "struck by a HGV lorry as he exited his own vehicle" near his home on a back street of Bradford Street, The Haulgh, Bolton.
Mr Atkinson was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.55am on November 28.Senior Coroner for Manchester West, Timothy Brennand, told the court that following a post mortem, the preliminary cause of death has been recorded as "multiple injuries".Mr Dobbs told the court that police enquiries are ongoing but it is "unlikely" that anyone will be charged in relation to the incident within the next 28 days.
