A grandad has been left furious after he was told by Barclays to pay back £110,000 that mistakenly landed in his account - despite the bank initially saying he could keep it.
Russell Alexander was shocked when the lump sum was deposited into his account by a complete stranger. The 54-year-old informed his bank and was mistakenly told that the money was from an inheritance and it was his to spend, according to the Liverpool Echo.
After receiving the windfall, Russell and his ex-fiance sold their seven-bedroom B&B property and purchased a £237,500 doer upper, with the expectation that they would use the surprise cash for extensive repairs required on the house.
