Gogglebox's resident eccentric couple Mary and Giles have not always been so in love, as Mary has revealed how the show saved their marriage.Mary Killen and Giles Wood are best known for their quirky Wiltshire cottage and great bond, which ultimately led them to be fan-favourites for Gogglebox viewers - but Mary admits that their relationship hasn't always been so straight-forward.The pair met when they were just 21 years old, when Mary was a model and Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art School, and together they have brought up two daughters who are now adults.

One of their daughters was supposed to appear alongside Giles on the television show, but when she backed out, Mary stepped up to the plate. However, it turned out to be a blessing, as Mary has previously admitted that the programme ultimately repaired their marriage.Speaking to Daily Star, she said: "Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night.

I got up early, he went to bed late and we rarely even ate together."She added at the time: "I know a few couples who have split up because they have decided they can’t stand one another."Sitting down and watching television reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."Gogglebox gave the couple an opportunity to spend more quality time together, and have been very loved by the public ever since their debut on the show back in 2015.

The pair even have nicknames for each other which can regularly be heard on the Channel 4 show, calling each other 'nutty'. Mary has explained how the nickname came about: "We call each other 'nutty', because we both consider the other to be a bit mad."Certainly Giles has multiple personality disorder so he's all sorts of people and one of them is a bit of a genius.
