Geri Horner has recalled how she cut up a tea towel to create her first Union Jack dress during her days with the Spice Girls.
In a new video for Vogue, Ginger Spice detailed the back story behind the now-iconic minidress, which landed her on the front of every British newspaper the day after she sported it for the girl group’s BRIT Awards performance in 1997.
Remembering how she was handed a short black Gucci dress to wear for the Spice Girls’ special performance, Geri then decided to ramp it up by adding the flag to the front. “I don’t know if this is true, but you’re not meant to cut up a (British) flag,” she said. “In the olden days, you could be sent to the Tower (of London)… so I found a tea towel.” Geri enlisted her sister, who is
