Gary Neville once delivered a 200 not-out cricketing masterclass for Greenmount Cricket Club alongside Australian icon Matthew Hayden.
The Manchester United ace, 47, was a multi-talented sportsman in his younger years with both himself and older brother Phil enrolled in the Lancashire-based club.A teenage Gary recorded the feat in 1992 - the same year he made his senior debut for Man Utd in a 0-0 draw at home to Torpedo Moscow in the UEFA Cup - sharing a mammoth 236-run partnership with Hayden. The pair's partnership helped Greenmount battle back to victory after being reduced to 42/2.Neville scored 110 not out while Hayden ended unbeaten on 140.
Having been snapped in the paper, the 236 partnership with Hayden was Neville's final outing for Greenmount with a United youth coach spotting the gleeful 17-year-old and instructing him he had to quit.
And despite his exploits with Hayden, Neville's elder sibling has always been credited as the more accomplished cricketer. In fact, England legend Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff was thankful Phil opted to pursue a career in football as he was a "cricketing genius.""I played junior cricket at Lancashire with Phil Neville.
