Furious Super League bosses have come out firing after players were urged to fight back against wage cuts. A letter from the GMB Union has called on players to “stand up and be counted” in the wake of rugby league winning a £16million Government loan.

The handout can only go towards helping clubs survive the effects of coronavirus and cannot be used on player wages. But senior organiser Pete Davies claimed they would demand a review of the wage cuts, saying players feel duped and don’t feel they have been listened to.

The letter, which has gone to more than 600 members across the three divisions, has caused uproar amongst clubs, as well as some players.
