Bookmakers fear a Frankie Dettori treble could kick-start a mega day for punters as Royal Ascot 2020 begins. Flat racing's most popular jockey rides well-backed favourites Daarik (Buckingham Palace Stakes, 1.15pm), and Frankly Darling (Ribblesdale Stakes, 2.15pm), plus fancied Queen Anne Stakes (1.50pm) contender Terebellum on Tuesday.
Then with odds-on shots Mogul (3.00pm) and Battaash (3.35pm) to come in the next two races, fans of the market leaders could have plenty to celebrate.
Dettori rode four winners on Ladies Day at the meeting in 2019, topped by Stradivarius in the Gold Cup- and threatened to make it five until his Brittania Stakes mount Turgenev was caught in the final 60 yards by a 28/1 outsider.
