One of the most naturally talented surfers I ever knew," the 11-time world champion wrote. Surfing New South Wales executive director Mark Windon said Mr Davidson was "one of the most stylish surfers" Australia had ever produced."He was an absolute prodigious talent and as flamboyant as he was in the water," he told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "[He] was a larger-than-life character, and for his life to finish that way is really sad." The World Surf League tweeted their best wishes to Davidson’s family following his tragic death.“The World Surf League, and the surfing community at large, are saddened to learn that former CT surfer Chris Davidson, of Narrabeen, Australia tragically passed away on Saturday,” they posted. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends.” The messages continued to pour in as Davidson's close friend and fellow surfer Nathan Hedge spoke about his pal on Australia’s Today Show on Channel Nine."[I was] fortunate to have an incredible life with Chris, and he was such an asset to myself and the surf community," he shared. "Just tragic to lose Chris in such crappy circumstances.
