Former footballer who beat cancer twice says NHS staff have always been his heroes

Former Tranmere Rovers and Rochdale footballer Joe Thompson has paid tribute to the NHS heroes who saved his life. It's almost three years since Joe announced he was 'cancer free' sparking congratulations from across the world of football.

In an emotional tweet he said in June 2017: “Let me just confirm! #TWICE means I’m in complete remission!! Simple terms I’m cancer free.
