Channel 5's hit British soap Family Affairs had years of success, with the show's stars having thriving careers since its debut two decades ago.The show, which focused on the lives of residents in the fictional London suburb of Charnham, debuted in 1997 and wrapped up in 2005.The series was the country's first 5-days-a-week soap and had been broadcasted every weekday since it launched.However, ratings were low despite re-vamp attempts and it wasn't long before Channel 5 axed the soap.Despite the show's end, many stars' continued to be a hit in other hit soaps and hot grossing TV dramas - with one even smashing it across the pond.

In the flagship soap, actress Ebony Thomas, 39, is best known as the chronically unlucky-in-love Yasmin MacKenzie.The actress was just 16 when she first joined the show back in 1998 and she has since become one of its most high-profile performers finding fame in music.The singer-songwriter opened for Cee Lo Green's tour in 2011 and also collaborated with Yoko Ono.Prior to stepping into Ms MacKenzie's troubled shoes, Ebony also appeared on Grange Hill and Samson Superslug.Soaps fans will be thrilled to know that Family Affairs' Nicola Duffett had roles in Coronation Street and EastEnders.The actress, 59, was known for playing tragic Cat Matthews in the Channel 5 show and joined Corrie in 2020 as Yasmeen's (Shelley King) prison pal Lucie.She also took on the role of Eileen in the Hollywood blockbuster Made in Dagenham in 2010.

It wasn't the first time Nicola had been in Coronation Street.In 2015 she made a guest appearance as a character named Mrs Bird.EastEnders fans will remember her.
