Flood warning in force 'until further notice' as Ayrshire coast to be battered

A flood warning is in place for Ayrshire 'until further notice'.Heavy rain is expected to hit the region this evening with forecasters predicting as much as 50mm of rain could fall in some places.SEPA has placed Ayrshire on a 'flood alert' status but the coast from Ayr Troon has been placed on the higher 'flood warning' category.The environmental agency expects overtopping with floods expected to hit low-lying roads and properties in Ayr and Troon with high tide at 11pm tomorrow expected to cause the most disruption.Residents have been urged to remain vigilant.A statement from SEPA reads: "A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea, including wave overtopping, is expected to affect low lying land, roads and properties along the coastline from Ayr to Troon. "Wave overtopping is expected to affect low-lying parts of Prestwick and Troon around the time of high tide at 23:00 [GMT] on Tuesday, November 7."Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.

This flood warning is now in force until further notice."Meanwhile, the Met Office say that the flooding of homes and businesses is likely.The yellow warning for rain was put in place at 3pm today and is to last until midnight this evening.The warning reads: "Heavy rain through this afternoon and evening, falling on to already saturated ground, is expected to cause some localised flooding.
